A 14-year-old girl, Jamiyah Mayfield, has died in what has been described by neighbors and family members as a case of alleged abuse and neglect.
According to initial reports, Jamiyah was found deceased at a residence on July 1, 2025.
She was reportedly living with her father (identified as “JJ”) and stepmother (identified as Toris Mayfield).
The two are allegedly involved in the circumstances surrounding her death, though no official charges have been confirmed at this time.
Neighbors noted unusual activity around the home, including the quiet arrival of emergency services with no sirens, and two families reportedly moving out days earlier.
A local resident, Mahogany Wallace, made a now-viral Facebook post detailing suspicious behavior before the incident.
She later archived the post after being contacted by law enforcement, who advised that it was interfering with an active investigation. She also stated she received a threat from someone related to the family.
Jamiyah’s family has launched a GoFundMe campaign to assist her mother, Vona Starks, with funeral expenses.
The fundraiser states that Jamiyah was Vona’s firstborn and that her death has left the family seeking public support for burial arrangements.
Police have not released additional information. The case remains under investigation, and no arrests have been publicly announced.
